Charlene Finn is a
member of the
Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) and
has been a trainer/teacher for the past five years. She got her start as an
apprentice with a professional dog trainer, and she attends seminars and
conferences to stay informed on new and better methods of animal training. She
is an AKC-CGC evaluator with excellent experience in teaching basic obedience
classes and titling her own dogs in the Rally Obedience forum. Char has fostered dogs
for the Animal Welfare League; most recently she fostered a Husky and her pups
through Adopt-A-Husky.
Her volunteer work at the P.A.W.S.
in Tinley Park is very important to her. At P.A.W.S. she works with the
dogs, helping them to learn some basic obedience and household manners. She has three dogs and one cat of her own. After
receiving their Level III Title in Rally Obedience, she and her dog, Mickey,
have moved on to agility. Mickey just received his Level 1 Standard (CL1-R) and
his Level 1 Fun (CL1-F) Titles from CPE (Canine Performance Events). She and her
dog, Sadie are working on their Level III Rally Obedience Title and practicing their
routine for the fast-growing sport of Canine Freestyle. As a testimony to the
effectiveness of Clicker and Positive Reinforcement Training, Char taught her
cat, Crazy Dazy, to “come, “sit” and “pretty kitty” using a clicker. Char
is also a Rally Obedience instructor for
Canis
Sapians Chicago Dog Training. She welcomes and encourages all family members to become involved in training their
dogs!
Keeping dogs out of shelters and in loving homes
is a primary goal of Char's Obedience Training.
Char's Obedience
Training offers group lessons that are limited to 8 dogs
in order to provide individualized attention. Classes include: Puppy
Kindergarten for puppies up to 5 months old, Family Dog for dogs over 5 months
old, and Advanced
Obedience which includes preparation for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Test. Rally'O and Freestyle classes are also offered. Classes are held in Blue Island,
Mt. Greenwood and Mokena, serving the South and Southwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.
