HANNAH
Meet Hannah... Because of her earlier life style, Hannah prefers to be in a home with no children, dogs, or cats. She loves to learn knew things; that is, if you can get her to stop dancing around and being silly. Hannah is looking for the kind and wonderful leader of her pack to enjoy life to its fullest. Do you need that special gal to come home to, that will always have a smile and tons of kisses and hugs to give?

JACK
Hi – I’m Jack. They say I am a two year old male black Lab, but I’m really just a goofy adolescent. I’m not here right now because I am staying with my foster family and learning lots of neat stuff. I have mastered the basic obedience commands: come, sit and down. We are still working on wait, stay, leave it and take it. My foster mom uses positive reinforcement and clicker training. She measures out my daily ration of kibble and feeds them to me as training treats. I am learning that my crate is my very own house. Sometimes I sneak inside and wait for my foster mom to see me. This makes her very happy and I always get a treat. I stay in my crate all day when my foster mom goes to work. She gives me a Kong stuffed with kibble when I go in. After I finish working on that, I take a nap. Before I know it, foster mom comes home and we go outside to play and, you know, go potty. I want to talk about potty, because I never go potty in the house or in my crate. If I have to go potty before our usual time, I will sit down in front of you and tell you. This makes my foster mom laugh, but she does eventually stop laughing and listen to me. When I first joined my foster family, I would mark stuff. I was feeling kind of overwhelmed. My foster mom helped me by limiting the size of the space I lived in. At first, she kept me very close to her on a leash. I could watch everything, but still be connected to her. After a while, the kitchen became my headquarters, but if she couldn’t watch me, I was either outside in the yard or in my crate. Now I have kitchen, family room and laundry room privileges when someone from the foster family is with me. Otherwise, I nap in my crate. I like to chew on empty plastic bottles – they are so noisy and fun! My foster sister wants me to run and chase her, but I’d rather follow bunny tracks or bark at those pesky blue jays. Sometimes my foster mom ties knots in rags so we can play tug of war. I like going for car rides with my foster mom and look out the window at everything as we go by. And I really like cuddling with everyone in my foster family. I get along very well with my foster sister. Even though I am bigger and stronger than she is, she says she is the boss and that is fine with me. There are two cats in my foster family, but I get so excited when I see them, that my foster mom isn’t sure that we will play well together. We’re working on this. My foster mom says that I am ready for my forever home. I would like my forever family to keep working with me – teaching me new tricks and stuff. Trying to understand humans really tires me out, but one thing I know for sure is they really are a lot of fun to be around.

CHELSEA
Meet our newest and smallest member to our rescue, "Chelsea", a 3yr old Shepherd mix. Well, smallest is relative to height and length, 'cause you see this sweet girl is a full-figured lady. Her owner recently passed on and with no family members, Chelsea had no place to go. She found her way into our rescue through some kind folks. Chelsea is truly a precious gem waiting to share the rest of her life with a new family. Her foster mom raves about her ability to learn and adapt to everything she experiences. She enjoys her walks several times a day to help slim down her figure and she thinks barking is a waste of time. Chelsea is happy to play and be silly at the right time, or simply put her nose on the windowsill and smell the fresh air and watch the birds and bees in the garden. Her understanding of basic commands and eye contact grows every day... she is eager to learn and please. This great little girl is fine with other dogs, cats and older children. Her people skills and manners are top-notch. If you are the right family for this little lady contact us to ADOPT Chelsea. Chicagoland Shepherd Rescue
